Commercial EPC

Commercial Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are a legal requirement in the UK for most non-domestic buildings when they are built, sold, or rented. They provide an asset rating for a building's energy efficiency (A-G) and recommend improvements.

Why do I require an EPC and what information does it provide?

MEES regulations - Commercial properties must currently meet a minimum EPC rating (currently 'E' or higher) to be legally let.

Marketing requirements - A valid EPC is mandatory before a commercial property can be marketed for sale or rent.

Informs buyers and tenants - The EPC provides a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient), which then helps prospective occupants understand how energy-efficient the property is.

Cost Implications - The EPC provides an indication of potential energy bills and running costs (this is based on standard occupancy assumptions).

Improvement recommendations - The EPC includes a recommendation report and provides specific ways to improve the building's energy performance, such as a change in heating system or better insulation.
